Drug detection

This project was highly commended in Society of Dyers and Colourists competition (2018)

A year ago, I started to develop a concept of making textiles that could detect a rape pill in your body. I wanted to visualise the idea, so I decided to work with colour changing dyes which change their colours with the temperature. I started to treat it as I would treat the ‘drug reactive dye’ I had to consider the placement on the body as well as the pattern I’ve used. I want colour change to be first noticeable feature of my textiles. It must be bold and visible as it would be designed to protect and inform the environment that the wearer is in danger.
